Jason Donovan is at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre this week in Million Dollar Quartet.
The Australian singer and actor plays legendary record producer Sam Phillips.
Considered by some as the father of rock ‘n’ roll, Sam brought Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins together for one night only to create music history in 1956.
Since becoming a household name as Scott on Neighbours, Jason has built up an impressive musical theatre background, although this is his first visit to the Marlowe Theatre.
With lead roles in the Rocky Horror Show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sweeney Todd and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, he also had a successful pop career and brought his Ten Good Reasons and greatest hits tour to Margate last December.
Ross William Wild, who has had a busy stage career, will play Elvis Presley, while Ashley Carruthers appears as Jerry Lee Lewis. Ashley started playing piano at the age of five.
Robbie Durham performs as Johnny Cash, after notching up stage credits including Sunny Afternoon, Dreamboats and Petticoats and Kiss Me, Kate.
Matt Wycliffe is Carl Perkins. Matt has appeared in the Commitments, Jersey Boys and as Buddy in the Buddy Holly Story.
The Tony Award-winning Broadway and West End musical includes more than 20 hits, such as Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That’s All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On and Hound Dog
