Back in 1978, at just 19, Kate Bush topped the UK singles chart for four weeks with her debut single, Wuthering Heights, becoming in the process the first female artist to hit the No.1 spot with a self-written song.
Since then she has become an icon, clocking up 25 UK Top 40 singles, including the Top 10 hits The Man with the Child in His Eyes, Babooshka, Running Up That Hill, King of the Mountain and Don't Give Up, with Peter Gabriel.
She inspires devotion in her fans - and in Kent each year fans stage The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever on the Harbour Arm, with hundreds of men, women and children - and even, this year, a couple of dogs - re-creating the music video from her first hit, complete with red dresses (for all).
Kate Bush-Ka, which comes to the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone on Friday, October 18, features Kate’s repertoire starting with the first album, The Kick Inside, before embarking on a journey through her career including lesser-known album tracks, such as Breathing, complete with authentic costumes and choreography, and starring lead singer Kate Smith.
