Keane will play in the county next summer as part of the Forest Live concert series.
Forestry England made the announcement today that the reformed group, who hail from Tonbridge, and met at Tonbridge School, will play at Bedgebury Pinetum in Goudhurst on Friday, June 12.
They join Will Young and James Morrison who were announced as co-headliners for Sunday, June 14, 2020.
The band made a welcome return this year after a six-year hiatus, with their studio album Cause and Effect, which follows previous No 1 albums which have accumulated more than 13 million sales worldwide including Under The Iron Sea, Perfect Symmetry and their debut smash, Hopes and Fears which generated hit singles from Somewhere Only We Know to Everybody’s Changing.
The birth of their new album came as singer Tom Chaplin had released two solo albums but missed his old sparring partner Tim Rice-Oxley. “I found myself wondering how I had come to let this very enigmatic and important relationship in my life drift,” he said.
Tim had written an album’s worth of personal songs fuelled by humour as well as pain; a break-up album. When Tom, bassist Jesse Quin and drummer Richard Hughes heard them, they were drawn to them.
Keane last appeared as part of Forest Live in 2010 and their date in 2020, with support, will see them play material from throughout their career.
Tickets at £44.50 (plus a £5.45 booking fee) go on sale on Friday, November 29 at 9am. Book by calling 03000 680400 or go to forestryengland.uk/music
