Find some Fantastic Beasts this weekend as a country park’s summer cinema season continues.
Betteshanger Country Park in Deal, which held its first open air movie screenings last year, held a public vote for its film choice this weekend.
The Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, won 48% of the vote, narrowly beating Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, to be shown on Saturday, August 19.
Follow the adventures of Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards, 70 years before Harry Potter read his first book in school.
Betteshanger’s events manager, Tracy Brunt, said: “Cinema trips are traditionally saved for rainy days. We want to buck that trend and combine popular films with the great outdoors.”
“Our moonlit movies, set against a backdrop of spectacular sunset views over Sandwich Bay and the Thanet coast, make for a good fun, great value night out.”
A comfy chair, blank and hamper are encouraged, and there will be local food and drink in the festival village tipis.
The screening will go ahead come rain or shine, although guests should bring appropriate clothing and equipment for the Great British summertime.
The final screening of the summer will be on Saturday, September 16, when Tim Burton’s adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice Through the Looking Glass, will be shown.
Visitors are encouraged to create their own Mad Hatter’s Tea Party before the screening at 8pm.
