When it comes to seeing some of the world’s biggest bands, you might think that spending hundreds of pounds on a sought-after ticket to Glastonbury is the only way to go.

But you don’t need to go all that way to hear some of your favourite songs this summer, as Kent’s biggest tribute festival, Rock the Mote, returns to Maidstone.

The festival is now in its fifth year and is expected to host almost 40 tribute artists, with rockstars, pop powerhouses and soul singers all being emulated on the main stage.

Over three days, groups impersonating rock bands such as Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Oasis, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, My Chemical Romance and The Killers will take to the stage.

There will also be pop-tastic performances from Abba, Dua Lipa, Whitney Houston, Elton John and Kelly Clarkson tribute artists.

The festival hopes to celebrate ‘artists from both past and present’, with songs dating back to the 1960s right up to today’s chart-topping hits.

Fans can expect to hear music from live bands and singers, as well as DJs who will be spinning floor-fillers from across the decades throughout the day and into each evening.

The event, which made its debut in Mote Park in 2019, has now grown into a full festival site with a beer, cider and ale village, family fairground and street food vendors.

There is also the option to camp if you’re planning on making a weekend of it.

The campsite offers phone charging stations, showers and toilets and food and drink stalls.

You can also upgrade your ticket to VIP Camping, where you can stay in a small field with fewer crowds and take advantage of the ‘luxury loos’.

This year, the festival has pledged to help reduce single-use plastic by offering reusable branded cups.

The cups, which come in 10oz and 20oz sizes, will be available at all Park Live events throughout the summer.

There’s a small charge for the cup when you order your first drink and it is then cleaned and replaced the next time you go to the bar.

Rock the Mote takes place in Mote Park, Maidstone, from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2.
