A teenage singer from Broadstairs is set to support chart-topping pop band McFly at their headline concert this summer.
Olivia Rogers, who made the semi-finals of The Voice UK last year, will perform alongside her TV mentors Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones at Dreamland as part of the Margate Summer Series.
Olivia, who was 18 years old when she took part in the singing competition, made McFly singers Tom and Danny turn their chairs during her audition.
Her performance of Abba’s Lay All Your Love on Me saw her join the coaches’ team and she made it through to the semi-finals with renditions of Bryan Adams’ (Everything I Do) I Do It For You and Heart’s Alone.
Olivia, who studied at the Canterbury Academy, has been singing since she was a toddler.
Her time on the ITV competition saw her perform in front of stars such as Tom Jones, will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes and former Little Mix band member Perrie Edwards.
This summer will mark the second time that McFly, known for singles All About You and Five Colours in Her Hair, will perform at Dreamland.
The BRIT Award-winning group last performed at the vintage fairground in July 2023.
The band have scored seven No. 1 singles since forming in 2004 and are also set to play a string of of sold-out arena shows alongside fellow noughties band Busted this autumn.
In addition to The Voice UK, the band members have appeared on several TV shows over the last two decades.
Tom Fletcher and drummer Harry Judd both competed on Strictly Come Dancing, with Harry lifting the glitterball trophy in 2011, while guitarist Danny Jones and bassist Dougie Poynter have both won I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Eurovision Song Contest star Sam Ryder will also be hitting the Scenic Stage to warm up the crowd ahead of the boyband’s headline set this summer.
Sam, who rose to fame with his viral TikTok videos in which he would cover popular songs, is best known for representing the UK in the singing competition in 2022 with his single, Space Man.
McFly will perform at Dreamland on Friday, August 1. You can book tickets online here.
Doors open at 5.30pm and last entry is at 9.30pm. The concert is expected to finish at 10.30pm. Southeastern will be running a later train service from Margate during the summer to accommodate passengers after the event.
