This week, we’re announcing the top three finalists across each category for the first ever Kent & Medway Food and Drink Awards.
We’ve already revealed the finalists in categories such as Restaurant of the Year and Hotel of the Year and now it’s time to find out which places you picked as the county’s best farm shops and tearooms.
The awards, presented by the KM Group and sponsored by Café Nucleus, aim to celebrate the work of restaurateurs, chefs, small business owners and volunteers throughout Kent and Medway.
Tomorrow, we will be sharing the finalists for Pub of the Year and Hospitality Champion, so keep an eye out to see if any of your nominations made one of the top spots.
FARM SHOP/DELI OF THE YEAR
Sponsored by Rochester Bridge Trust, judged by Jane Beedle
Brambledown Farm Shop, Sheppey
“Our island's little treasure with locally sourced fresh fruit and veg produce.”
Macknade, Faversham
“Superb selection of food and drink sold by knowledgeable and pleasant staff. By far the best cheese counter in the county and a fantastic selection of Kentish wines and ciders.”
Perry Court Farm, Ashford
“Relaxed atmosphere - the farm dogs are much in evidence (though kept away from food) and customers' dogs are also made welcome. A favourite destination.”
TEAROOM/COFFEE SHOP OF THE YEAR
Sponsored by Gullands Solicitors, judged by Paul Mannering
Bethany's Cafe, Westgate
“They are always very welcoming and friendly. At Christmas they pay for a brass band and put on a free event with food and hot drinks for their community.”
Coffee Corner, Ashford
“I am a regular in Coffee Corner, the staff are so polite and friendly, always cheerful and always go the extra mile. Nothing is too much trouble.”
Heart of Higham, Gravesend
“This coffee shop really has become the heart of a little village and brought everyone together!”
We will continue to announce each category's three finalists this week, so keep an eye out to see if your foodie favourite is in with a chance of winning at the first Kent & Medway Food & Drink Awards.
