The Margate Summer Series, which includes concerts from the likes of Tom Jones, Primal Scream and McFly, is gearing up for its first event.
The Soundcrash Funk and Soul Weekender will kick off the seaside town’s summer programme with a stacked line-up of artists.
The three-day festival celebrates the best of funk, soul, disco, jazz and blues music, with a headline performance from Kool and the Gang.
The Grammy-winning New Jersey group, best known for disco classics such as Celebration, Get Down On It and Jungle Boogie, have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide over their seven-decade career.
Also set to appear are New Orleans-based funk and hip-hop group Hot 8 Brass Band, British DJs Craig Charles, Norman Jay and David Rodigan, afro-jazz band Nubiyan Twist and northern soul pioneer Eddie Pille, among others.
The festival will start on Friday, June 2 inside Dreamland’s Roller Disco and will move to the outdoor Scenic Stage for Saturday’s main event, before finishing back in the Roller Disco on Sunday.
There will also be a number of fun activities for visitors to take part in over the weekend, including theme park rides, disco yoga and dance classes.
The Soundcrash Funk and Soul Weekender takes place from Friday, June 2 to Sunday, June 4 at Dreamland in Margate. You can book tickets online here.
The Margate Summer Series will then continue throughout the summer, with performances from Placebo, Rag N Bone Man, Queens of the Stone Age, Bastille, McFly, N-Dubz, Primal Scream, Tom Jones and more.
