What would make you pay more than £10 to sit in a field and bring your own picnic?
When you have one of the summer's most Instagrammable views practically to yourself, that's when.
The lavender fields at Castle Farm near Shoreham don't bloom for very long - from late June until the very end of July, so there's quite a short window to catch it.
As the 80,000 lavender plants come into bloom, the farm offers lavender walks and picnics in the fields, so you can breathe in the scent - and get your snaps for the 'Gram of course.
A lavender picnic costs £11.25 each and you get two hours to relax around the Ladybird lavender field, enjoy the view and wander among the rows of fragrant flowers.
The Covid-safe arrangements mean there is an entrance and an exit to the farm, and you have an allotted time slot.
For the entrance, make sure you follow the signs on the main road - trying the back road only takes you to the exit!
Relax and see the lavender blow in the gentle breeze:
Although the picnics are naturally hugely popular during the summer weather, and given they are only available for a short period, the limited number of people allowed in the field meant everyone had their space. We didn't feel anyone was encroaching on our little chosen corner of the field - you can choose where you picnic, whether it is under the trees, on the grass at the top or the bottom, or under the marquees close to the entrance.
And two hours actually felt like exactly the right amount of time, even though beforehand it did not sound like it would be enough.
And the views... they really are glorious. They're hard to take a bad photo of, but it's actually easy to forget to take snaps as you sit back, relax and take it all in.
You can also buy refreshments from the market stall and order lavender products to pick up from the drive thru farm shop as you leave.
