Led Zeppelin frontman and rock legend Robert Plant is taking centre stage yet again with his new band, Saving Grace.
The band, who made their low-key live debut in 2019, will be performing an intimate night of melodic music at Folkestone’s Leas Cliff Hall on Sunday, April 10.
The Stairway to Heaven singer will be joined by vocalist Suzi Dian, with whom he co-founded Saving Grace, as well as percussionist Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey and banjoist Matt Worley.
Fans were surprised to see Robert fronting his new project back in January 2019 at their first live show, which they performed to a small crowd in Bishop’s Castle. They then followed this with a short run of dates later in the year, including a supporting slot for Fairport Convention.
Saving Grace announced a series of US dates and plans for a more extensive touring schedule in 2019, before having to cancel due to Covid-19.
After returning to the stage last summer for a brief string of UK dates, which originally included an appearance at Kent’s Black Deer Festival until the event was cancelled, the band are finally hitting the road on a full UK tour.
Robert Plant became a household name as the lead vocalist of pioneering hard rock band Led Zeppelin, alongside renowned guitarist Jimmy Page and bandmates John Paul Jones and John Bonham. Their huge hits included Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love and Rock and Roll.
The band split up in 1980 after John Bonham’s death. Since then, they have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, achieved five certified Diamond albums and reunited for a handful of tour dates.
Saving Grace will be joined on their UK tour by singer-songwriter Scott Matthews.
