Acting hopefuls are looking forward to hearing the words "You're hired" from a local theatre group.
Maidstone-based Changeling Theatre’s search for their next apprentice gets underway with auditions on Thursday, May 11 at the Hazlitt Theatre.
The company, which holds its 20th anniversary outdoor summer tour across the county from June to August, is looking for a 17 to 22-year-old to perform with its actors this summer.
Previous apprentices have gone on to big roles, including Ellie Kendrick, from Boughton Monchelsea, who plays Meera Reed in Game of Thrones.
Artistic director Rob Forknall said: "The apprentice scheme is an important part of what we do as a proudly Kent- based theatre company. It has helped launch the acting careers of many local would-be young performers.
"They will learn the ropes and gain confidence in performing to large audiences in a wide range of unusual and interesting venues."
Last year’s winner, Charlie O’Conor from Aylesford, who attended Simon Langton Grammar School, is now at drama school, while Pip Carter from Strood has gone on to appear in Party Animals alongside former Doctor Who Matt Smith.
Charlie said: "For anybody thinking about applying to be the Changeling Theatre’s next apprentice - stop thinking and do it! Performing at over 30 venues across the south east was a wonderfully challenging experience. Changeling is an extremely supportive company and I was inspired by my glimpse into life as a professional actor."
Applicants need to be prepared to travel to rehearsals in London and venues across the south east but will get on-the-job training and mentoring.
Auditions will be at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone from 5pm. To apply, email with a photo and details including your age, address, any acting experience and musical skills, plus a a brief reason for wanting to audition, by Monday, May 8 to hello@changeling-theatre.com
Changeling Theatre’s Hamlet will be playing from Friday, June 30 to Wednesday, August 30, at venues including Westenhanger Castle, Swarling Manor, Kennington Hall, Biddenden Vineyard, Allington Castle and Leeds Castle.
