More on KentOnline
There’s a weekend of inspiration under one roof for those thinking about building their own home or renovating their current one, this weekend.
Build It Live South East, a dedicated exhibition for self builders and home renovators, comes to the Event Centre at the Kent Showground, near Maidstone.
Now in its fifth year, the show is designed to help find everyday solutions to manage homebuilding, renovation, extension or conversion projects.
Visitors will be able to meet hundreds of suppliers and see thousands of products from oak frame building solutions to underfloor heating and kitchens.
The exhibition aims to help provide a stress-free route to creating an individual home with expert advice and top tips.
Exhibitors include some of the UK’s most innovative suppliers who offer not only cutting-edge technology but also a choice of traditional and eco-friendly products.
Architects and other independent experts will be offering one-to-one free advice on how to turn a project into reality including how to find land, what is possible with and without planning permission and how to ensure you have the right design.
There will be free workshops and seminars and at the Naked House visitors can see a section of a new build as it comes together, providing an insight into how things are installed, from blockwork and underfloor heating, to the roof trusses and floor joists.
In the Plotsearch Zone, there will be tips on searching for plots and on the show floor, a chance to hear personal stories from the self-builders themselves.
There will also be eco building advice and one-to-one advice on issues including renewable energy and environmentally friendly building techniques.
