Feather boas at the ready – it’s time for Margate Pride.
The culture-rich celebration of LGBT life, with a chance for everyone to let their hair down, whether gay, straight and everything in between, reaches a crescendo tomorrow.
It attracted around 2,000 visitors last year, enjoying alternative culture, community activism and local and international talent.
The centrepiece is a parade from Margate Lido at 2pm, to Dreamland at around 3pm, with a party atmosphere at the theme park through to 7pm.
Events have been held throughout the week leading up to the weekend, and there will be DJs including Sister Bliss until 9pm, when Cockles and Muscles, the Margate Pride after-party is unleashed until late. There will be DJs, drag queens and cabaret acts putting on an absolutely fabulous rave.
The following day on Sunday, August 13, revellers can enjoy a barbecue and outdoor entertainment at the Harbour Arm’s Lighthouse Bar from noon to 5pm.
