A bumper mix of big names and up and coming bands play nine indoor venues and four outdoor stages at this weekend’s Margate Soul Festival.
The festival, which comes to the town from Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4, culminates in a big festival finale at Margate Winter Gardens. More than 100 DJs and acts will play over the three days.
Appearing at the Winter Gardens on the outside Red Stripe Sunset Stage and indoors in the main hall on the Saturday will be UK jazz funk giants Incognito and Light of the World, with special guests Michelle John, Lukas Setto and Kent-based up and coming band Mad Yella, hailed as the next generation of British jazz funk.
For the festival finale, there will be Cool Million, which features festival founder Eli Thompson with a guest appearance by 1980s artist James D Train Williams, plus Janet Kay, Omar, Steve Nicol of Loose Ends and David A Tobin, as well as top local band EK1.
“This year has been testing to say the least,” said festival organiser Eli Thompson, “but we have managed to pull it off with the support of some key partners and businesses who understand the worth of the festival to the area.”
