England’s Tudor queens are taking to the stage to give audiences a whole new perspective on the infamous tales of Henry VIII and his six wives.

Smash hit musical SIX is back on tour, with the glamorous pop princesses set to appear at two Kent venues as part of the show’s royal procession.

The show, which has toured the country in previous years and also had successful runs on the West End and Broadway, will be stopping off at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury in March.

The tour will then continue spreading girl power across the country this summer, including a return visit to Kent in July for five nights at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.

The pop concert-style show is a modern retelling of England’s 16th-century King Henry VIII and his six marriages, but this time the tables have turned and it’s all about the queens.

The musical gives each wife a chance to tell their version of the story, featuring toe-tapping numbers such as Ex-Wives, Don't Lose Ur Head and All You Wanna Do.

Since its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017, SIX has won the Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design and has been nominated for five Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music.

The show has links to the county, as Henry VIII’s second wife Anne Boleyn grew up at the historic Hever Castle in Edenbridge.

It was during this time that the King first began to court his future wife and, as a result, annulled his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon.
