Nile Rodgers and Chic is the first headline act to be announced for this year’s Rochester Castle Concerts.
The concert series will return to Kent once again this summer, with the legendary disco group set to perform on Thursday, July 6.
Tickets are not yet available, but will be on sale ‘soon’ from Eventim. You can find ticket info here.
Chic first found fame as part of the 1970s disco scene and had many commercial hits during that time, including Good Times, Le Freak and Everybody Dance.
The group, formed by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards, were widely accepted as one of the most influential bands of the ‘70s and were honoured for their contribution by the Dance Music Hall of Fame in New York in 2005.
The original Chic line-up disbanded in the early ‘80s, but Nile Rodgers continued to perform, write and produce music as a solo artist and collaborator.
He has since written, produced or performed on records that have sold more than 500 million copies, including singles and albums with Diana Ross, Daft Punk and David Bowie, and has been the recipient of six Grammy Awards.
In 2017, the guitarist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with an award for Musical Excellence and, in that same year, reunited with Chic for a headline performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
The group will now be performing some of their biggest hits in the grounds of Rochester Castle this summer.
The Rochester Castle Concerts is a series of outdoor live music performances, which last year featured artists such as the Human League, The Specials and James Blunt.
