Watch some thrills on the water this weekend as the British Kitesurf Championships come to the Kent coast.
Following last year's postponement due to the pandemic, the British Kitesports Association will be bringing the event back to Ramsgate Main Sands on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22.
Around 70 competitors from all over the UK will be competing, including some of Kent’s own kitesurfers such as Herne Bay’s own Mattia and Francesca Maini, and there will be a chance for visitors to try some taster sessions.
This year’s event will also include for the first time the British Kite Foil Freestyle Championships and the British Wing Foil Freestyle Championships.
Besides the spectacle on the sea hosts Active Ramsgate will be putting on free kitesurfing taster sessions on the beach, as well as commentary and demonstrations plus music and outdoor leisure stalls and some unexpected surprises over the weekend - all creating an event that the whole family will enjoy.
Dr Cheryl Mvula MBE, Active Ramsgate project manager said: “Ramsgate is a key destination now on the kitesurfing scene.
"It’s a great opportunity to watch some amazing competitors on the water from the beach, get a taster of this sport for yourselves and enjoy a fun, festive vibe over the entire weekend. It’s a free event, so do come along to join us.”
