Tyron and Daisy, along with colleague Steve Catt, have worked together to put Oliver – With a Twist, the Marsh Community Theatre’s latest production, on stage.

Theatre chairman Tyrone and Steve took more than a few liberties with the Charles Dickens’ classic to depart from the traditional pantomime theme.

“Dickens wouldn’t recognise it,” said Daisy.

“Local people and local shops feature heavily in the production. We are hoping the mixture of time-honoured slapstick and local gags will bring a smile to many a face.”

February might seem late for a panto, but the group is specifically aiming for the half-term audience.

So why the Dickens theme?

“We’ve had 14 years of presenting traditional pantomimes,” said Daisy. “We thought it was time for a change. Our production is timed to coincide with half term.”

The group ran for 10 years with Lydd in the title, but Daisy breathed new life into it by re-forming it as the Marsh Community Theatre when she returned from university four years ago.

The show is at Lydd Community Hall, on Thursday, February 20 to Saturday, February 22. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start.

There’s also a matinee performance on Saturday. Tickets from £4.50 to £6., matinee £4.50.

Tickets from Lyons Stores High Street, Lydd, or call 07850 538125.
