Autumn is almost here and that means spiced lattes, cosy jumpers and, of course, pumpkins.

Pumpkin patches are the place to be as soon as October hits, and we’ve got some of the most picture-perfect patches where you can pick your own pumpkins this year.

BECK EVANS FARM, Sidcup

The pumpkin patch is open for bookings and has a good variety of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. It’s a peaceful countryside setting near the city and has lots of other activities for families to enjoy on-site, including the dinosaur-themed maize maze and soft play.

BELUNCLE FARM, near Strood

For more than 10 years, the family-run Beluncle Farm has been one of Medway’s must-visit autumnal spots. The patches start from the valley at the top of the farm and often include new Halloween-themed photo opportunities each year for visitors to enjoy as they wander through the fields.

Details: Dates for this year have yet to be announced but tickets go on sale at the beginning of October and updates will be shared on the farm’s Facebook page.

BETTESHANGER COUNTRY PARK, Deal

Alongside its spooky Terror Trail, this country park also has a family-friendly event this Halloween. The pop-up Pumpkin Town brings a pumpkin patch to the park where visitors can grab a wheelbarrow and fill it with as many pumpkins as they wish. There will also be fun decoration and children’s activities.

ERRIOT WOOD, near Sittingbourne

This 75-year-old farm has recently opened for pumpkin picking and returns again this year for another season. The patch is full of unusual pumpkins and squashes, quirky scarecrow characters and Halloween-themed displays.

Details: Open select dates from Saturday, October 14 to Sunday, October 29. Costs £5 per vehicle, plus booking fee, and can be booked online here.

FELDERLAND FARM, Deal

If you’re looking to pick up a variety of pumpkins, this coastal farm is the place to go. They have all sorts of pumpkins available, including Crown Prince, Polar Bear, Monster, Munchkin and Turk’s Turban. The dates aren’t confirmed for this year yet, but the patch usually opens in October.

Details: Open in October, dates are yet to be announced. Prices start from £1 per pumpkin, depending on size and weight.

FOUR WINDS FARM, Tunbridge Wells

This farm will once again open up to the public during the October half term for a week of pumpkin picking. Details of this year’s event haven’t been confirmed yet but last year there was a scarecrow trail, face painting and refreshments so fingers crossed there will be plenty of things to see and do again this year.

LOWER LADYSDEN FARM, Goudhurst

Pumpkin season is one of the busiest times of year for this Goudhurst farm, which sells lots of different pumpkins, squashes and gourds throughout October. There are also two special Pumpkin Night events where you can go picking after dark and enjoy the spooky atmosphere.

Details: Open weekends in October and for the half term from Monday, October 23 to Friday, October 27. Pumpkin Nights take place on Saturday, October 14 and Saturday, October 21. Daytime tickets cost £2.50 per person and can be booked online here.

PICK YOUR OWN PUMPKIN, Ashford

This patch started with the aim to raise as much money for a different chosen charity each season. This year marks their tenth season and, in the past decade, the farm has raised almost £30,000. This year, the patch will be supporting Club AUsome, a Kent-based charity supporting families with children who have disabilities or need additional learning support. There will also be a hunt for a golden pumpkin during the season, and the lucky person who finds it will win a free wheelbarrow of pumpkins.

PUMPKIN MOON, Maidstone and Rainham

The popular Pumpkin Moon patches in Maidstone and Rainham have confirmed that they will once again be welcoming visitors to their autumnal fields this October. There will be more than 100 varieties of pumpkins and squashes available along with street food stalls, drinks, fancy dress and photo opportunities.

SPADEWORK, West Malling

There’s a Fright Night coming to charity garden centre Spadework this Halloween. The Pumpkin Garden will be open with live actors and spook-tacular decorations, all to help raise money and support adults with disabilities. It’s not clear whether you’ll be able to pick pumpkins from the garden just yet, but more details are set to be announced soon.

Details: The Fright Night event will take place over the October half term, although no dates have been confirmed yet. Updates will be shared on the charity’s Facebook page.

STANHILL FARM, Dartford

Grab a wheelbarrow and fill it up with as many pumpkins as you fancy. This patch will be covered in a sea of orange once again this year, and there will be plenty of chances to take photos and share them on social media. Tickets aren’t on sale yet but are expected be be available here by mid-September.
