Get ready for a good ol’ knees up as one of Germany’s biggest beer and music celebrations comes to Kent.
Oktoberfest, which features Bavarian beers, German street food and live music, will return to Mote Park in Maidstone on Saturday, October 1.
Oktoberfest is an annual two-week festival which has been taking place in Munich since the early 1800s, and now draws in more than six million visitors from across the world.
Since starting as a public commemoration of the marriage of the prince of Bavaria, who later became King Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, the festival has grown into an international affair.
Thanks to Park Live, the team behind some of summer’s show-stopping events at Mote Park featuring artists such as Katherine Jenkins and UB40, Kent fans can raise a glass to their very own Oktoberfest celebration.
The traditional Bavarian bash will, of course, offer visitors a range of German craft beer, served in steins, with a number of drinking games and fancy dress competitions to help everyone get into the party spirit.
However, don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s all about the beer.
Oktoberfest prides itself on its lively and theatrical musical performances, creating a true celebration that is much more than just sinking a few beers in a tent.
This year, Kent’s Oktoberfest will feature authentic Oompah music from bands such as German Jukebox, which gives this Bavarian festival its unique feel and fun-filled atmosphere.
There will also be a line-up of tribute bands playing the biggest and best party anthems, including Queen tribute act Magic Queen. Whether it’s Bohemian Rhapsody or We Will Rock You, you’re sure to be dancing on the wooden tables, beer and Bratwurst in hand.
There will also be cocktails, soft drinks and German street food available to purchase at the festival.
Oktoberfest takes place on Saturday, October 1 at Mote Park, Maidstone.
The afternoon session lasts from 12pm to 5pm, while the evening session lasts from 6pm to 11pm. Please note, the evening session has already sold out.
You can book tickets, including group tickets for up to eight people, here.
