Quarterhouse Folkestone is a hub of creativity and culture – a unique performing arts venue with a diverse programme of theatre, music, film, dance, comedy and more. From sing-alongs to engaging dance performances, there are plenty of activities for children and adults to enjoy, and the team can’t wait to welcome customers again.
Mrs H & the Sing-along Band
Coming up on 25 January, 22 February and 29 March is unique family music from Mrs H & the Sing-along Band. Featuring musicians including members of Red Snapper, Beth Orton and The Leisure Society, it will bring Folk, Soul, Afro, Latin and Dub genres together with comedy and theatre to woo audiences of all ages.
Aakash Odedra Company: Little Murmur
On Sunday 6 March, Aakash Odedra Company and The Spark Arts for Children will perform Little Murmur, a stunning visual treat based on the true story of one child’s struggle with letters and words. Kids aged 7+ will enjoy an honest and funny tale about the trials and tribulations of seeing things differently, jumping into a world of dance, technology and illustration.
Norwich Puppet Theatre: Pinocchio
Saturday 19 March sees Norwich Puppet Theatre’s Pinocchio take to the stage. An exciting reimagining of the classic Italian fairy tale, which follows a puppet’s adventure of self-discovery to become a real boy, the highly visual production incorporates puppetry illusion, object theatre and a lively soundtrack. It’s perfect for children aged 4 and above.
The Herd Theatre: Slime
Are your little ones fans of slime? If so, this event from the Herd Theatre, taking place on 16 April, is the show for them! Enter the world of characters Slug and Caterpillar and sit in a giant garden to squish, squelch and play your way through a hilarious, surreal production for 2-5-year-olds and families.
Xenia Aidonopoulou & Georgia Tegou: Underwater
Experience a magical journey into the deep blue sea with Underwater, a beautiful dance theatre show created especially for babies aged 0-2. The narrative follows a ballerina who wakes from a dreamy sleep and finds herself in the ocean, a comforting world of blue lights and bubbles. This multi-sensory performance on Fri 29 Apr at 11am, 1pm and 3pm is sure to engage and stimulate your baby’s imagination – and there’s plenty for adults to enjoy too!
Second Hand Dance: We Touch, We Play, We Dance
This warm-hearted, playful dance event for little ones under 3 sees a group of dancers weave around the space, inviting babies and children to join them. With music mixed live by a DJ, the dancers respond to the children, guiding them through a series of exchanges and encounters with high fives, hugs and dancing. There are two performances on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May – one at 10.30am and another at 2pm.
