This Friday sees rebel rocker Tommy Stinson with his post-Replacements outfit Bash & Pop ram raid the Music Hall in Ramsgate.
Supporting Green Day at Hyde Park the following day, they come baring their 2nd LP, Anything Could Happen, which pairs tragic headlines with anthemic riffs, between snarling vocal deliveries and paint-peeling guitar solos.
What else would you expect from a man who’s CV includes stints as bass man for Axel Rose’s Gun ‘n’ Roses? It's top draw big American rock.
Bash & Pop’s make up features Stinson on vocals and guitar, backed by lead guitarist Steve “The Sleeve” Selvidge (The Hold Steady), drummer Joe “The Kid” Sirois (Mighty Mighty BossTones) and bassist Justin “Carl” Perkins (Screeching Weasel).
In a statement announcing the new LP, Stinson said he craved the band format again after piecemeal recordings of two solos albums. “I found myself longing to make a record in the same way that we made the early Replacements records: live, in the studio, as a band” he said.
“Since early 2015 I’ve been recording new songs with new and old friends, cutting all of them as live as possible without losing too much fidelity nor over-thinking the songs.”
Bash & Pop will be at Ramsgate Music Hall, with support from UK’s horror rockers Deadcuts, on Friday, June 30. Tickets in advance £16.50, visit ramsgatemusichall.com or visit tommystinson.com
