More on KentOnline
Learn how to turn your dream home into a reality with help from the experts.
Build It Live! this weekend will have firsthand accounts from those who took on a self-build project and made it work and specialists who can help you navigate the minefields of planning permission through to cutting-edge design.
Now in its fifth year, the exhibition aims to give a stress-free route to creating a one-off home by helping you meet experts with the advice and know-how you need.
Exhibitors include some of the UK’s most innovative suppliers including architects and other independent experts in everything from finding the land, what is possible with and without planning permission and making sure you have the right design.
Specialist areas at the show include self-builders sharing their stories about how they realised their dreams and the Naked House, where you can see a section of a new build as it comes together.
The Plotsearch Zone will give you tips on searching for plots and access to the online database PlotSearch and taster sessions from the Self Build Academy by Potton.
You can also learn how to create a sustainable home incorporating renewable energy and environmentally friendly building techniques and the Federation of Master Builders will guide you through finding the right builder for your project. New this year will also be the Infinity Smart Homes Zone, where you can immerse yourself in a Smart Home environment, where heating and lighting, appliances and other features are fully automated and 3D home design demos.
Build it Live! will be at the Kent Event Centre at the Kent Showground, Detling, near Maidstone on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5.
Tickets cost £12, with under-16s free with an accompanying adult.
All paying visitors will get a copy of the latest Build It magazine.
