Renowned choreographer Matthew Bourne is celebrating a decade of Sleeping Beauty.
The gothic romance is returning to theatres for its 10th anniversary tour, including five nights at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
The show will be in Kent from Tuesday, March 21 to Saturday, March 25. You can book tickets online here or by calling 01227 78778.
Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score is brought to life once again by New Adventures, Matthew Bourne’s acclaimed dance company, 10 years after its premiere at Sadlers Wells.
The show broke records as the fastest selling production in the company’s history and has won numerous awards in the decade since its debut.
The supernatural ballet takes place in a world of fairies and vampires, starting in the late Edwardian era and progressing through the modern day using shifting sets and stunning costumes, created by Matthew’s regular collaborator Lez Brotherston.
The production is a timeless tale of good versus evil, but with a supernatural twist that weaves fantastical creatures and magical surprises into Princess Aurora’s search for her true love.
A number of original cast members, including Sophia Hurdley, Daisy May Kemp and Canterbury-born Danny Reubens, are returning for the anniversary tour.
They will be joined by Ashley Shaw, who will reprise the role of Princess Aurora, and Andrew Monaghan as Leo.
