Hundreds of churches across Kent will be open for the county's Ride and Stride this weekend, which links with Heritage Open Days

Hundreds of the county’s churches will be opening their doors to visitors across the weekend.

The event is also linking up with Kent Ride and Stride, which raises funds for local churches with a sponsored bike ride around them.

Churches from Larkfield to Rochester and Sheerness to Canterbury will be taking part.

As part of Heritage Open Days, St John the Baptist Church in Penshurst High Street, parts of which date back to the 12th century, will be offering a tour of the church at 11am and 4pm on Saturday.

The church itself has had work costing more than £700,000 raised through a local fundraising campaign, which was completed in time for the church’s 900th anniversary.

There are also Kent Ride and Stride events at Canterbury Cathedral Precincts and Rochester Cathedral. For details on the events in the county friendsofkentchurches.co.uk or check out the video here:
