Are you ready to rock and roll with the cast of smash hit musical Rock of Ages?
With more than 25 classic rock anthems, this touring production is set to turn up the volume in Tunbridge Wells as it visits the Assembly Hall Theatre.
The guitar-fuelled soundtrack includes hits such as Don’t Stop Believin’, Here I Go Again, We Built This City, the Final Countdown, Can’t Fight This Feeling, Wanted Dead or Alive and I Want to Know What Love Is.
“I was a young-ish man in the 1980s and not a huge fan of some dance music,” says former Coronation Street actor and Rock of Ages cast member Kevin Kennedy. “The last refuge of guitar music was that brilliant American glam-rock that we showcase in Rock of Ages.”
Kevin joins the cast as Dennis, the owner of the musical’s infamous Bourbon Room music venue.
“He’s an absolute rock guru,” says the Manchester-born actor. “He’s a very interesting man to play – he’s got a good heart at his core but he’s a child of his culture and loves his sex, drugs and rock’n’roll!”
The story follows aspiring singer Sherrie and wannabe rockstar Drew, two strangers who meet at the Bourbon Room club and attempt to chase their dreams in the rock ‘n’ roll underbelly of Los Angeles.
The show debuted on Broadway in 2009. Since then, it has gone on to wow audiences on the West End and in Las Vegas, as well as numerous worldwide tours.
In 2012, the show was turned into a Hollywood film by director Adam Shankman. It starred Tom Cruise, Russell Brand and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
“If you want to come dressed in your leather trousers and embrace your inner 80s rock star then do that,” says Kevin. “Even bring along an inflatable guitar if you want – everything is just a whole lot of fun.”
Rock of Ages is at the Assembly Hall, Tunbridge Wells, from Tuesday, September 13 to Saturday, September 17. Book online here.
