Legendary singer Lulu will be teaming up with a military wives choir from Kent when she performs two dates in the county.
The singer is releasing her new single Cry on Friday, February 26, which has been recorded with The Military Wives Choir, with all proceeds going to The Military Wives Choir Foundation charity.
At each of her 35 tour dates in the UK in March and April she will have a different, local military wives choir on stage with her.
She will be on stage with local choirs at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford on Monday, March 28 and at the Assembly Hall in Tunbridge Wells on Monday, April 18.
The Dartford date will feature Brompton Military Wives Choir, and Tunbridge Wells date will feature South London Military Wives Choir.
While recording the song, Lulu revealed that she herself is a sufferer of PTSD, as a result of her difficult childhood with fighting parents.
She said: "Being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) it helped me relate even more with our men and women in the armed forces. PTSD is not just about physical scars; it’s about the emotional scars, and they run very deep. They are enormous and very difficult to deal with.”
Sara Scott, trustee of The Military Wives Choirs Foundation, said: “We are delighted to team up with the amazing Lulu for the release of ‘Cry’. Women are the strength behind the strong, and there is now a network of seventy-five choirs on military bases across the UK and overseas. The opportunity for different Military Wives Choirs to perform ‘Cry’ with Lulu at each date of her UK tour is such an honour.”
