There’s something fishy going on in Folkestone this weekend.
The annual Folkestone Trawler Race promises plenty of seaborne activity, fancy dress and fairground rides over two days.
The trawler race will take place on Saturday, August 6, although the exact time is decided by the tides.
All activity will take place at the Stade by the harbour, and includes lifeboats and emergency services, along with live music, a fish pie competition at 1pm on the Sunday at the Mariners Pub, and market and food stalls.
The National Coast Watch will also be showing what they do and will have a tombola, with prizes to be won, to guess how many shells are in th tank.
The free fun does have a serious side, aiming to encourage people to support their local fishermen, buy fresh fish and highlight the importance of the area’s fishing heritage.
The Folkestone Fishing Heritage Museum at the Old Booking Hall in the Harbour’s old port terminal will also be open to look around for free from 10am to 4pm.
