Soul man Geno Washington will be bringing his new band to Maidstone this Friday.
The legendary 60s soul singer, who was immortalised by 80s band Dexy's Midnight Runners in their song 'Geno', is to perform at The Music Room at Pizza Express in Earl Street.
He will be playing his fast moving selection of R'n'B and blues and soul with band The Yo Yo's.
American-born Geno shot to fame in the 60s and his work with the Ram Jam Band gave him top billing.
His live shows were also featured in two of the biggest selling albums of the decade - 'Hand Clappin' Foot Stompin' Funky Butt Live' and 'Hipsters Flipsters and Finger Poppin' Daddies.'
He has continued to tour around the world and his latest live double album, 'It's Geno Time,' was recorded at the Half Moon in Putney.
The formation of Geno and the Yo Yo's features the long-standing rhythm section of the Ram Jam Band, with Geoff Hemsley on drums; Steve Bingham on bass and Stuart Dixon on guitar.
