Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp is heading back out on tour but, this time, he’s spinning someone else’s tunes.
The New Romantics-era bassist is bringing a festive edition of his DJ set, Back to the ‘80s, to Dreamland in Margate.
The musician, who is also known for starring as Steve Owen in EastEnders from 1998 to 2002, will be headlining a club night at the coastal venue’s indoor room, the Hall By the Sea.
The setlist includes hits from the 1980s, including the likes of Culture Club, Queen and Wham – a band that is particularly close to his heart as his wife Shirlie was one half of singing duo Pepsi and Shirlie, who provided backing vocals for George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
Martin and Shirlie married in 1988 and have a son, Roman Kemp, who hosted the Capital FM breakfast show for seven years and currently presents BBC’s The One Show.
The pair also host a father-son podcast and have appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox together.
The musician’s usual DJ set will have a Christmas twist when it comes to Margate and will feature a handful of festive songs alongside throwback tracks.
Martin Kemp will be at Dreamland’s Hall By the Sea on Saturday, December 7. You can book tickets here.
The event starts at 7.30pm and ends at 11pm, and it’s an adults-only night so under 18s will not be permitted.
