While St George’s Day fell on Wednesday, April 23, Dover Castle has put off its celebrations to this weekend so that everyone could get involved.
Soak up the sights, smells and sounds of life in a medieval village, and meet the surgeon describing gruesome medieval healthcare. Await your fate in the crime and punishment trials, and discover historical crafts and cookery.
A high point will be the skill-at-arms horse show, which will reach a crescendo when St George valiantly does battle with the dastardly dragon.
Kids can try on armour, test their skills at dragon slaying and practise their circus and jesting skills at special workshops. The event runs throughout Saturday and Sunday, April 26 to 27, from 10am to 5pm.
Tickets cost £17.50 for adults and £10.50 for children, or £45.50 for families. Call 01304 211067.
