When it comes to musicals, you just can’t beat the classics - and they don’t come much more classic than Singin’ in the Rain.
Starring Steps singer Faye Tozer, this timeless musical returns to the stage this March at the Marlowe Theatre.
Faye, best known for being a member of ‘90s pop group Steps, will be joined by Broadway’s Sam Lips and professional dancer Charlotte Gooch to help bring a touch of old Hollywood glamour to Canterbury.
No stranger to the stage, Faye has been performing for over 20 years with bandmates Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee and Ian ‘H’ Watkins. Together, they saw number one hits with Tragedy and Stomp, and their latest album, What the Future Holds Pt. 2, reached No. 2 in the UK album charts.
Steps last performed in Kent at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury in 2018 as part of their Summer of Steps 20th anniversary tour.
When she’s not performing pop hits, Faye still makes her mark on stage in the theatre. She has appeared in several musical productions, including Everybody’s Talking About Jamie on the West End.
She also became a familiar face of primetime TV in 2018 when she reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing with partner Giovanni Pernice.
Singin’ in the Rain, based on the 1952 film of the same name, follows silent movie co-stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont as they attempt to navigate 1920s Hollywood and its ever-changing film industry amidst the introduction of the ‘talkies’.
The show features spectacular choreography, classy costumes and uplifting music including Make 'Em Laugh, Good Morning and, of course, titular tune Singin’ in the Rain.
There are still tickets up for grabs, but beware of the front row - we’ve heard there’s a chance of showers.
Singin’ in the Rain is showing at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, from Thursday, March 17 to Saturday, March 26. Book online here or call 01227 787 787.
