Annaca has just released debut single Haunted, and describes her influences as bohemian artists including Cat Power and Tori Amos.
Joined by her four-piece band, she will be performing Haunted at this weekend’s Strawb Fest, along with other songs from her new four-track EP, produced by Jim Lowe, who has worked with the Stereophonics.
Annaca, who lives in Tunbridge Wells, is among several local acts booked for the charity music festival taking place in West Peckham, near West Malling, on Sunday, August 25.
Also in the line-up are acoustic guitarist Sean de Burca, folk three-piece Blinded Bird, and folk band Freddy Green & A Few Good Folk, all from Tunbridge Wells, and Brighton-based jazz and soul singer and songwriter Lu’Ami.
Famous West Peckham resident Cheryl Baker will make a guest appearance, along with Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, her fellow former members of 1980s pop group Bucks Fizz.
Event organiser Kyla Stroud, 19, a full-time musician, will also be performing in a folk duo with her sister Nat.
Kyla, who lives in the picturesque village, said: “I started Strawb Fest five years ago, when I was trying to raise money to go to music college, and it went so well that I have been organising them every year, though to raise money for charity instead. Last year was the first time that I opened it up to the public, and it proved such a success I decided to do it again.”
Strawb Fest runs from 3pm to 11pm at the shooting field of Court Lodge. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of refreshment stalls, a play area for youngsters and a couple of fun inflatables.
Tickets are £5 in advance, or £7 on the day, and under sevens go free. There will also be a VIP area priced £25 per person, which will offer tables and chairs, complimentary champagne/Pimm's and food, plus a prime spot in the field.
Proceeds will go to the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Centre.
