They’re packing a punch – and some memories too. A quirky collection of famous figures from children’s TV, cinema and the world of puppetry have all gathered at Maidstone Museum.

Punch and Judy, Morag the Cow from BBC’s Fully Booked and baby Dawn who memorably crawled across the ceiling in Danny Boyle’s film Trainspotting are all there.

The array of exhibits are part of a collection on loan from the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre.

Favourites like Punch and Judy, Japanese shadow puppets, commedia dell’arte leather masks and film animatronics are also included, as are paper-mache models by Franklin Spence and the Rostov State Puppet Theatre from Russia.

You can learn about puppetry through the ages and a variety of cultures.

There’s also a stage, run in conjunction with the Hazlitt Theatre, where you can act out performances using materials provided.
