There is little doubt Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag’s fifth UK tour will soften the blow of another tough year on Strictly Come Dancing.
Both huge fan favourites, Anton only made it to week three with supermodel Jerry Hall in last year’s show. Erin fared better with GMTV presenter Richard Arnold but the pair were voted out of the programme after week six.
Two of only three original professional dancers on the BBC1 flagship programme – the other is Brendan Cole – neither has ever lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy. Erin came closest as runner-up with Colin Jackson in 2005, while Anton’s best place came in the first ever series, finishing third with Lesley Garrett in 2004.
So Anton and Erin are dusting themselves off by paying tribute to the golden years of film musicals.
Sassy tunes, sensational choreography and sparkling costumes will see the double act – who have been dancing partners for 17 years – conjure up all the fizz and razzmatazz of Hollywood.
With their trademark charm, wit and ballroom magic, they will be joined by singer Lance Ellington, guest dancers and a 25-piece orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe, who recently worked on Top Hat with Tom Chambers.
They have devised show-stopping routines to tunes like Strike Up The Band, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, Ah Yes, I Remember It Well, Almost Like Being In Love, Steppin’ Out With My Baby and That’s Entertainment.
Anton said: “We are really excited about our new production in what will be our fifth tour of the UK. Erin and I can’t wait to get back on stage performing the show to our very welcoming audiences at some fantastic venues throughout the country.”
The pair are at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre on Wednesday, January 23. It is sold out but for returns call 01227 787787.
