Get your hands on the last few tickets to rock ‘n’ roll musical Bat Out of Hell at the Marlowe Theatre.
Bat Out of Hell, inspired by Meat Loaf’s best-selling 1977 album of the same name, will be hurtling full-throttle into Canterbury from Tuesday, February 22 to Saturday, February 26.
The show follows Strat and Raven, played by Glenn Adamson and Martha Kirby, and their rebellious love story, set against a backdrop of larger-than-life rock anthems.
“It is just a great night out; high octane, high energy and like a party,” says Glenn. “Just what we need after all that we have been through lately. Yes; it’s nostalgia for people who grew up with the album, but it is also a really great story that resonates with younger audiences.
“Great music is timeless and ageless. Queen, Bon Jovi, Tina Turner - this album is in the same bracket as those by these classic artists.”
Theatrical rockstar Meat Loaf, whose hits You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth, I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) and Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad feature in the show, sadly passed away in January.
During his five-decade career, Meat Loaf also appeared on the silver screen in films such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club.
The show’s UK tour will be dedicated to the singer, as well as Jim Steinman, who helped create the platinum record and incorporated its songs into the award-winning musical. The composer passed away in April 2021.
“The show has always paid tribute to both Meat and Jim’s work. It is now our place to continue sharing their legacy and greatness,” says Martha. “I think this was [Jim’s] finest work and I’m just so glad that he got to make this show before he died.”
Bat Out of Hell is showing at the Marlowe from Tuesday, February 22 to Saturday, February 26.
