Based on the thought-provoking bestseller by Mark Haddon, the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time stage show has notched up a string of awards and accolades.
The National Theatre production, which comes to Canterbury this weekend, directed by Marianne Elliott, has won seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards on Broadway, including Best Play.
It tells the story of Christopher Boone, who is 15 and has an extraordinary brain, is exceptional at maths but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. Playing the central role is Scott Reid, who appeared in BBC1’s comedy Still Game, with Lucianne McEvoy as his teacher Siobhan.
The show first toured three years ago and played to almost 400,000 people and is now on its second tour, while at the same time continuing its run at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End.
Mark Haddon’s book has won 17 literary prizes, including the Whitbread Award in 2003.
