Kent’s largest theatre has announced a string of blockbuster shows coming to the county over the next year.
The Marlowe Theatre, located just off Canterbury High Street, will soon welcome a new programme of gripping dramas, feel-good musicals, and famous faces to its 1,200-capacity auditorium.
One of the biggest shows coming to the theatre next year is Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie starring Killing Eve actor Jodie Comer.
Jodie, who plays Tessa in the one-woman drama, won both an Olivier Award and a Tony Award for the role and will come to the Canterbury stage in March 2026 as part of its national tour.
“It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time and take this important play on tour across the UK and Ireland,” says the 32-year-old BAFTA winner. “The resonance of Suzie Miller’s writing, both in London and New York, exceeded anything we could have imagined.
“I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to get the team back together and take the production to theatres around the country, including my hometown of Liverpool. On a personal note, I can’t think of a better finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life.”

Another play making the move from the West End to nationwide theatres is Dear England.
The show, which enjoyed sell-out runs at the Prince Edward Theatre and National Theatre, follows former England football manager Gareth Southgate’s time with the team, focusing on the pressures of the sport and how football ties in with our national identity.
The nine-time Olivier-nominated play comes to the Marlowe Theatre in October this year.
The theatre’s upcoming programme also features revivals of classic plays, including the Royal Shakespeare Company’s new production of Hamlet; Aaron Sorkin’s Tony Award-winning To Kill a Mockingbird; and Ken Ludwig’s version of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.
The venue is also a popular spot for musicals on tour, with the likes of the Addams Family, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Top Hat and Sunny Afternoon all stopping off in the city over the next year.
The summer season will also see Here and Now, a new musical based on the songs by pop band Steps, make its debut at the theatre.
Tickets for the new shows go on sale on Monday, April 7. You can book tickets and find the full programme here.
