More than four months after the streaming service launched in America, Canada, Netherlands and Australia, Disney+ blasts off in the UK with more than 1,000 films and TV series from the House of the Mouse including eye-catching content from the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic stables.

More than 600 episodes of The Simpsons will be available from launch day plus various animated classics and live action features.

There is also a wealth of original content.

Highlights include the eight-part sci-fi Western The Mandalorian, charting the escapades of bounty hunter Din Djarin in a galaxy far, far away, and the live action film Lady And The Tramp, based on the animated classic about the love affair of a pampered pooch and a street-wise mongrel.

There is also the faux documentary High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and the real-life Marvel's Hero Project, which seeks out young people who have been role models for positive change in their communities.

Disney+ is available from Tuesday, March 24, £59.99 annual subscription.

FILM Knives Out

Knives Out pays loving tribute to Agatha Christie with a tongue-in-cheek country house whodunit, which cleverly conceals the murderer's identity until a classic final act revelation. Writer-director Rian Johnson enjoys pulling the rug from under us as characters' ulterior motives are exposed.

Pieces of an elaborate puzzle slot satisfyingly into place as the ensemble cast have fun with their colourful roles, concealing deviousness and greed behind angelic smiles.

Daniel Craig sports a hammy accent fried in the same Deep South swamp as Steven Soderbergh's 2017 caper Lucky Logan. It's a self-consciously showy turn a la Hercule Poirot without the Belgian's psychological and emotional complexity.

Johnson's script lovingly embraces the tropes of a murder mystery while fishing for red herrings, assembling the accused in a wood-panelled drawing room for a private detective's pithy summation replete with overlapping flashbacks.

Also stars Ana de Armas, Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon and Christopher Plummer.

DOCUMENTARY Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution

Barack and Michelle Obama are among the executive producers of this eye-opening documentary, which should prove how worthwhile it is - they're not the sort of people to give their names and time to any old project. At its heart is Jim LeBrecht, a renowned sound designer for theatre and film and a disability rights activist. He's also the co-director and producer during a journey back in time to the late 1960s and early 1970s when he spent time at a ramshackle summer camp for disabled teenagers near Woodstock in upstate New York. LeBrecht reveals how the place changed his life, giving him and others a sense of freedom and empowerment they hadn't previously enjoyed.

SERIES: Ozark

Jason Bateman has been a busy man of late. He's an executive producer of US comedy-drama series Kidding, has appeared in and directed episodes of The Outsider and, most recently, has acted as the executive producer of forthcoming drama A Teacher. Now he's returning to one of his best-loved roles, that of Marty Byrde, a financial expert embroiled with various criminals and forced to relocate his family to rural Missouri. The new run picks up six months after the events of its predecessor. The casino is now up and running, but Marty and Wendy feel they face an uncertain future. As Marty tries to stay on everybody's right side, Wendy plots expansion with help from drug cartel leader Omar Navarro. But the arrival of Wendy's brother Ben could ruin everything.

FILM: Charlie's Angels

An outlandish globe-trotting escapade based on the popular 1970s TV series, which promoted a brand of girl power distinguished by fabulously coiffed hair and fetishistic figure-hugging couture.

Core messages of female empowerment and sisterly solidarity thrum in every lovingly glossed frame, augmented with copious costume changes, hand-to-hand combat and a sequin-studded dance routine to a groovy remix of Donna Summer's disco anthem Bad Girls.

Writer-director Elizabeth Banks' reboot blends a familiar cocktail of explosive stunts and wry humour with minimum characterisation and narrative outlay.

Stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Sir Patrick Stewart and Elizabeth Banks.

Project Runway is back. Well, sort of. Model-turned-presenter Heidi Klum first teamed up with fashion consultant Tim Gunn while making that series, in which wannabe designers vied for a chance to launch their fashion careers. Now they're back together, co-hosting another contest. This time, a dozen entrepreneurs and designers from across the globe have been invited to take part. Their aim is to build a successful fashion brand, with a $1million investment up for grabs. The extra twist is that each week's winning look will be available to buy from Amazon for under $100 - hopefully British viewers can get their hands on these garments as well, allowing them to stay one step ahead of the crowd in the process.

Yes, we know what you're thinking - this is a bit of a throwback. And you'd be right-ish. The first three series were made between 2004 and 2007, and then a movie (funded via Kickstarter) appeared in 2014. Five years later, a fourth run was made, and that's what we're about to enjoy - as a fifth has not been commissioned, we're guessing this is our final meeting with the private investigator we first met when she was still in high school. Kristen Bell continues to play her; clearly she has a lot of affection for the character. When we catch up with her, she's still living with her long-term boyfriend Logan and working with her father Keith in Neptune, California, and she's about to investigate a bomb blast. JK Simmons, Patton Oswalt and Mary McDonnell are among the stars.
