Jumping around is a bit of a given at a night combining a Czech rapper, a festival band known for hip hop and grime, and a Roma dance troupe.
Music for Change combines these three acts – Azza, Kotchin and the Kings Evil, and Gypsy Stars respectively – for a lively gig at the Ballroom in Orange Street, Canterbury, on Thursday, March 19.
Kotchin and the Kings Evil have been playing the festival circuit for the last three years, including appearances at Small World Festival. They are an energetic posse fusing hip-hop, reggae, grime, blues and drum ‘n’ bass.
Gypsy Stars are the UK’s most established Roma music and dance troupe. They play a variety of styles, from the traditional folk music of eastern Europe to the gypsy jazz styles made popular by musicians such as by Django Reinhardt.
Czech rapper Azza has lived in Thanet since he was seven. He has performed at the Love Music Hate Racism festival and his latest track, Find a Solution, was written in collaboration with a group of young people in Margate.
The guys take to the stage at the Ballroom from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £4 on the door. Visit www.musicforchange.org
