Singing legend Tom Jones has announced he is postponing his 80th birthday tour date in the county.
The star's A Celebration tour, which would have marked the landmark year for him, had been due to come to the Hop Farm in Beltring, Paddock Wood, on Sunday, July 5 this summer.
But as a result of the restrictions as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the date has been put back to next year and will instead be played on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the same venue.
On the rescheduling his tour, Sir Tom said: "I’m really sorry to have to inform you that my shows scheduled for this summer have had to be postponed until next year. As you most likely are aware, public performances are sadly not going forward as normal for just about everyone who works in music and entertainment.
"My team have been monitoring the UK government advice on organised gatherings and I now need to take this action to ensure the protection of fans, my crew and everyone who works in support of the shows. It is also important to help ease the pressure on those working on the front line to fight this virus."
He added: "You all know how much I love performing but everybody’s safety must come first. Behind the scenes we’ve been working with local promoters to re-schedule all the shows from this summer as closely as possible. To make it easy, all tickets already purchased for this year will remain valid for the re-scheduled shows in 2021.
"In the meantime, please stay home, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all soon."
All tickets held for original dates will be honoured and are transferrable to the 2021 show. Any ticket queries should be directed to the point of purchase, though ticket holders are reminded that all ticket agents, venues and promoters are busy and working with skeleton staff.
Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of promoter LHG Events, said: “We are extremely sad that we won’t be seeing Sir Tom Jones delight his fans this summer, celebrating his 80th Birthday, however in these unprecedented times, this is the right decision for all. We are pleased that we have been able to re-schedule the concert to 2021, when I have no doubt that we’ll all be ready for one huge celebration."
You can buy remaining tickets priced from £39.50 plus a booking fee from lhgtickets.com and Ticketmaster.co.uk.
There are also front row and premium seats and VIP packages.
