One of the county’s biggest Pride events has confirmed it will return for its third year.
Dartford Pride, which has attracted hundreds of visitors to the town in past years, will return with music and live entertainment this summer.
The Orchard Theatre will once again host the event, in partnership with Dartford Borough Council, with the main event taking place on Saturday, July 6.
Since launching in 2021, Dartford Pride has put on free entertainment from drag artists, bands and dancers in the town centre, as well as ticketed tribute nights at the nearby theatre.
Last year, the event included performances from drag queen River Medway, best known for competing on the third series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, and Cher, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift impersonators.
There was also a talent show, food stalls, face painting, dance workshops from Strictly’s Graziano Di Prima and West End singers from shows such as Wicked, Six and Mamma Mia.
While the entertainment has not been confirmed for this year’s event yet, it will be announced in the coming months on the Dartford Pride Facebook page.
Pride month officially takes place in June, but typically the events take place throughout the summer.
The celebration started with the Stonewall riots, a series of protests that took place in America in June 1969.
Since then, communities have come together each year to celebrate love and allyship and to continue to support LGBTQ+ rights.
