Get your dancing shoes on and join the party as traditional folk music takes to the streets.
The Tenterden Folk Festival, one of the county’s annual music festivals, returns for a weekend of live music, traditional folk dancing and entertainment at the end of the month.
The four-day festival will see musicians take to the stage at venues across the town, including Tenterden Club, Town Hall and St Mildred’s Church, for a number of show-stopping concerts.
Artists appearing at this year’s folk festival include Bob and Gill Berry, Dick Miles, Jack Rutter, Wilson Family, Foot Down Ceilidh Band with John Sweeney, and Rattlebag, among many others.
The main concerts are ticketed, however there is a free festival stage which will see bands such as the Ashford Folk Band and the Invicta Ukulele Club Band perform for passers by.
Alongside the music, Tenterden Folk Festival also has a packed programme of other activities for visitors to enjoy.
There will be more than 50 folk dance display teams, including Morris sides, and street theatre groups entertaining crowds during the weekend.
There will also be a number of informal sing-along and musical jam sessions for visitors to join, a colourful afternoon parade on the Saturday, and a free craft fair in the town’s recreation ground.
The craft fair takes place on Saturday and Sunday and will be selling handmade crafts, instruments, CDs, cakes, sweets, artwork and items from local charities including Kent Wildlife Trust.
You will also be able to grab yourself a real ale or cider from Romney Marsh Brewery and a bite to eat from the hot food stalls while you enjoy the free entertainment in the recreation ground.
The Tenterden Folk Festival takes place from Thursday, September 29 to Sunday, October 2 in and around Tenterden. Find out more, including the full festival programme and how to book tickets, here.
