Glyndebourne on Tour arrives in the county this week.
The opera company will be performing three shows: Benjamin Britten’s the Rape of Lucretia, directed by actress Fiona Shaw; Laurent Pelly’s vivid re-imagining of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel set in a supermarket and Annabel Arden’s romantic production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.
Audiences can enjoy a free pre-performance talk exploring the themes of each opera on the first night of each production.
Hänsel und Gretel is at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre on Tuesday, November 12, L’elisir d’amore on Wednesday, November 13 and Saturday, November 16, and the Rape of Lucretia on Friday, November 15. Tickets from £29. Call 01227 787787.
