The Cornish group of singing fishermen, Fisherman’s Friends, from Port Isaac first came together to sing traditional working songs passed down for generations in 1995.
After 15 years of singing locally, the group were spotted by a music manager and ended up signing a record deal with Universal Records in 2010.
Their unexpected rise to fame saw the group achieve remarkable success, including a Top 10 hit from their debut album and a performance on the legendary Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
In 2019, a feature film based on the musical group and their sea shanties was released, starring Daniel Mays, James Purefoy, Noel Clark and Maggie Steed.
This inspiring story, along with the film, are the basis for the new stage show, which is now stopping off at theatres across the country.
The touring cast includes James Gaddas, best known for television roles in shows such as Coronation Street, Bad Girls and Hollyoaks, and Parisa Shahmir, who has appeared on stage in smash hit musical Mamma Mia.
The new production takes audiences on a journey from humble beginnings in a local fishing community to the thrilling whirlwind of the music industry and what it really means to have 15 minutes of fame.
