It has been a busy week at kmfm Breakfast, and one of the highlights was chatting to former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan. She was forced to bow out of the competition due to illness, but is still pursuing a career in music, and is about to release her debut single Lighthouse.
She is a lovely girl, and describes her music as ‘A-Flop’, a mixture of acoustic, folk and hip-hop. She told us that Lighthouse was inspired by her journey across America at the age of 18, armed with just her guitar and a three-month visa.
Playing shows and couch surfing, she travelled across 23 states with lighthouses helping to lead the way. Lucy told us: “Lighthouses are my good omen. When I was in the US and stuff went wrong, when I’d miss the last bus or I’d run out of money, I’d always see a lighthouse on a piece of paper, beer bottle or in real life then things would start getting better.”
If you missed our interview with Lucy head over to kmfm.co.uk and have a listen!
And if you want to see Lucy in action, she will be returning to the county on Monday, October 21, for a performance at Margate’s Winter Gardens.
We have been playing Fashion or Fiction on the show. Each day my co-presenter Rob Wills and I have been testing listeners’ fashion knowledge, asking whether they think a statement is true or false.
If they got the question right, they won £50 to spend at Hempstead Valley in Gillingham. All the winners will be joining us at the shopping centre on Friday, June 21, to compete for the chance to win £250 of shopping vouchers. Rob and I will be there from 5pm, and there will be a host of giveaways and competitions, so make sure you come along and see us.
So the sun is still yet to arrive this summer, but the gloomy weather has provided the perfectexcuse to stay inside and watch one of my favourite programmes – Big Brother! I have been an avid fan since it first started, and was so excited when the new series started last Thursday. The new house looks great, and I really like the host Emma Willis. It’s great to have a woman presenting it again. I can’t wait to see what happens.
