You can catch a piece of music history when the Three Degrees perform this weekend.
The longest-running female vocal group ever, the band will be belting out hits such as When Will I See You Again and Take Good Care of Yourself.
Formed in 1963, the Guinness World Record holders may have been in the business for more than 50 years but they aren’t resting on their laurels.
With their first new album out for 25 years, Strategy – Our Tribute to Philadelphia, and a national tour, original members Helen Scott and Valerie Holiday with Freddie Pool, who joined in 2011, are as busy as ever. Recorded in Atlanta, the album features their own personal tribute to Philadelphia classic such as Love Train and Disco Inferno.
Helen said: “This album holds a special place for me. I was raised in Philly and my exposure to the music of many Philadelphia artists was vast.
"The sound came from two talented musical moguls, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who challenged the industry and put Philly on the map. There is love and a message in the music.”
Valerie said: “For us, it is still exciting and we still enjoy our work. We are blessed with a wide age group appeal from 15 to 65.”
The Three Degrees will be at Maidstone’s Hazlitt Theatre on Saturday, April 9.
