Violin vixen rock chick... That may sound a tempting yet unlikely combo, but it all makes sense with one glance at Anna Phoebe.
The alluring violinist and composer has thrilled audiences the world over with her dramatic live performances. Shunning formal training in favour of learning her craft on the stage, her practical education came under the auspices of elder rock statesmen Ian Anderson and Jon Lord.
Couple that with huge stadium tours with the likes of Roxy Music, and the whole ‘violin vixen rock’ thing clicks into place.
Beneath the edge of bravado, Anna is a down-to-earth soul who performs barefoot.
The deep thinker in her is behind new recording Between the Shadow and the Soul, an exotic combination of classical and Eastern influences which mark an excursion into world music while retaining Anna’s characteristic rock edge.
Anna is at Walmer’s Lighthouse bar this weekend with her long-time guitarist Nicolas Rizzi.
They perform at the Sunday Service on October 12 which runs from noon to 5pm. Visit www.thelighthousedeal.co.uk or call 01304 366031. Support is from Poggy Hatton and entry is free.
