If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to see hippos in Herne Bay or measure yourself against a woolly mammoth, you can find out at Canterbury’s new exhibition all about the history of Kent wildlife.

Kent Wildlife Connected in Time opened in January at The Beaney and takes guests through three different zones, each representing a different fascinating period in natural history.

While much of the exhibition focuses on past creatures that roamed the Kent landscape - and why some of them are no longer here - there is also an opportunity for visitors to learn what the future of their local landscape could look like.

“This exhibition makes for a fantastic way to tell the story of wildlife in Kent,” says Cllr Joe Howes, Canterbury City Council’s lead councillor for culture.

“We're expecting it to be very popular, with lots of fun activities and great displays. Even those who think they know their local wildlife will learn a few new things along the way.”

The free exhibition is running at The Beaney in Canterbury until Sunday, March 27.
