Explore the beautiful Kent countryside, from bluebell woods to picturesque villages, with a 10-day walking festival.
This year’s Heart of Kent Walking Festival, organised by Maidstone Borough Council, will see a series of planned walks take place all over the county town and surrounding areas.
The event features stunning locations, including the North Downs National Landscape, Knole’s tranquil deer park, sprawling vineyards and the Hucking Estate’s carpet of bluebells.
Some of the walks pass centuries-old castles and churches, while others stop off in Maidstone’s nearby villages and delve into the history of the area.
There are walks for all ages and abilities, from 10-mile stretches of countryside to nighttime walks under the stars and short strolls that are suitable for children.
Stephen Thompson of Maidstone Borough Council said: “All walks are run by expert guides with amazing knowledge, many sharing information on different topics such as history, flora and fauna, geology and much more.
“Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and being able to join with others really improves the whole experience.”
“Booking is essential to avoid disappointment and make sure you get your preferred walk. Walk lengths and grades vary to suit different abilities, allowing both experienced and new walkers to take part.”

The Heart of Kent Walking Festival takes place from Friday, March 21 to Sunday, March 30.
